The New York City skyline has been lovingly crafted in sterling silver and textured oxidized brass to create this stunning duo-toned bracelet. Created by New York jewelry designer Cynthia Gale for the New-York Historical Society, the bracelet is a statement piece of the Museum's City that Never Sleeps jewelry collection. Inspired by the remarkable photography of Irving Browning, this textured and duo-toned jewelry celebrates Browning's soulful documentation of New York City.
This sculptural bracelet of the Manhattan skyline features Lady Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge along with the Woolworth, Flatiron, Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. The landmarks are rendered in a high-polished sterling silver, while the background is crafted in a textured mat finish of oxidized brass with the suggestion of windows belonging to other structures. Engraved on the inside of the cuff are the words "The City that Never Sleeps". Cuff measures 1.3" wide and 6.3" around, with an open, adjustable back.
A self taught photographer and cinematographer, Irving Browning (1895-1961) is celebrated today as a master documentarian of the heart of New York City. The New-York Historical Society's Browning collection consists of 1,885 gelatin silver photographic prints, as well as ephemera relating to Browning's career as a photographer and cinematographer. Images date from 1918 to 1952.
