Description
A glimpse of the New York City skyline has been lovingly crafted in textured sterling silver and textured oxidized brass to create these gorgeous earrings. Created by New York jewelry designer Cynthia Gale for the New-York Historical Society, the earrings are part of the Museum's jewelry collection titled The City that Never Sleeps. Inspired by the remarkable photography of Irving Browning, this textured and duo-toned jewelry celebrates Browning's soulful documentation of New York City.

These Manhattan skyline earrings feature the Woolworth, Chrysler, Empire State and Flatiron Buildings. The landmarks are rendered in a high-polished sterling silver, while the background silhouette is crafted in textured mat finish sterling with the suggestion of windows belonging to other structures. Engraved on the reverse side of the necklace are the words "The City that Never Sleeps." Drop earrings measure 1.2" in diameter and hang at length of 1.7". Sterling silver ear wires.

A self taught photographer and cinematographer, Irving Browning (1895-1961) is celebrated today as a master documentarian of the heart of New York City. The New-York Historical Society's Browning collection consists of 1,885 gelatin silver photographic prints, as well as ephemera relating to Browning's career as a photographer and cinematographer. Images date from 1918 to 1952.
