The luster of our vibrant Tiffany Poppy Scarf was inspired by an iridescent poppy lamp in the museum’s collection produced by Tiffany Studios c. 1900-1906. The stylized brilliant red poppy blossoms appear to fall the length of the fabric onto the border of green metal filigree leaves. Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) is celebrated today as one of the most influential designers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Recently discovered correspondence suggests that Tiffany designer Clara Driscoll (1861-1944), actually designed most of Tiffany’s leaded glass lamps, including the Wisteria, Dragonfly, and Poppy, and many of his objets d’art.

In addition to designing, Driscoll managed a large department of young women, known as the "Tiffany Girls," who specialized in selecting and cutting glass for windows, shades, and mosaics.

Two layers of 100% silk satin. Reverses to black. 70"L x 15" W.
