Description

"Well behaved women seldom make history!"  Our inspiring canvas tote pays tribute to the long legacy of feminism in this country, from the early suffragists to the brave women fighting for equal rights today.  With words coined by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich and the purple, white and gold colors of the American suffrage movement, our exclusive tote is the perfect accessory for strong women with an urge to succeed, and a fitting tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in New York State.

The woman suffrage movement began in 1848 in Seneca Falls, NY. For the next 50 years, woman suffrage supporters worked to educate the public about the validity of female enfranchisement.  By 1900, the campaign for woman suffrage became a mass movement. New York women gained suffrage in 1917, and American women won full voting rights in 1920, with the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment.
