Draco Constellation Bookmark

$ 1.48 $ 2.95

Our exclusive Draco Constellation Bookmark will keep your page at the ready! The magical beast featured on our bookmark is derived from a 1721 Navigation Notebook in the collection of the New-York Historical Society and featured in the exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic.

Celestial navigation is the ancient practice of finding your way by observing the position of the sun, moon and stars. Draco - Latin for dragon - is one of the 48 constellations originally listed by the astronomer Ptolemy in the second century. The dramatic dragon motif featured on our bookmark was inspired by an illustration of the northern hemisphere constellation from a fascinating handwritten nautical manuscript.

Harry Potter: A History of Magic at the New-York Historical Society is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the publication of J. K. Rowlings Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. The exhibition captures the wizarding traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories through centuries-old treasures including rare books, manuscripts, and magical objects from the collections of the British Library and New-York Historical Societywith original material from Harry Potter publisher Scholastic and J.K. Rowlings own archives.
