Description

Our Revolutionary Drummer decorative ornament is wonderfully detailed and will add a colorful character to your Christmas tree.

Following a common practice of the era, George Washington's army recruited young boys to act as drummers. Drums were an important part of the battlefield communications system.  Special drum rolls were used to signal different commands from officers to troops.  Although there were usually official age limits, these were often ignored; the youngest boys were sometimes treated as mascots by adult soldiers. The life of a drummer boy appeared rather glamorous and as a result, boys would sometimes run away from home to enlist

The figures in our History Makers line of ornaments are a holiday who’s who of the American experience. Trim your tree with historical personalities.  These ornaments depict key persons in America’s journey from colony to modern nation.
