Bird on a Flower Wish Box

$ 56.00

Beautiful and whimsical this bird has a unique personality all on its own! Made from a combination of found objects and mixed media, a wishbox of our feathered friend has become amazingly popular and is a favorite of many bird collectors. A little surprise is placed in each box. Perhaps a key, a small rock, or maybe a tiny rosebud might be inside awaiting your wish.

The New-York Historical Society exhibition, Feathers: Fashion and the Fight for Wildlife, is the inspiration for the NYHistory Store's merchandise featuring ethically and sustainably sourced feathers. The exhibition, exploring the history of the ground-breaking Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, examines the circumstances that inspired early environmentalists—many of them women and New Yorkers—to champion the protection of endangered birds. It regulated the nation’s commercial plume trade, which had decimated many American bird species to the point of near extinction. On view April 6 - July 15, 2018.
