Laos Dome Earrings

$ 65.00 $ 130.00

These Dome earrings are chic, lightweight and comfortable to wear. This remarkable piece of wearable history tells the story of transformation from bombs into artisan jewelry. Handcrafted in Laos from Vietnam War shrapnel, each piece helps clear unexploded ordnance, making land safe and providing new metal to artisans. Every purchase gives back to support traditional Laotian artisan livelihoods, village development, community endeavors and further de-mining efforts.

Over 270 million cluster bombs were dropped on Laos during the Vietnam War; up to 80 million did not detonate. Your purchase contributes to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to safely & expertly clear some of the 80 million unexploded bombs contaminating land in Laos. Nearly 40 years on, less than 1% of these munitions have been destroyed. More than half of all confirmed cluster munitions casualties in the world have occurred in Laos. The NYHistory Store is proud to support this cause in partnership with Article22.
