Commemorate the city’s collective appreciation with our 7PM NYC Gratitude matted print decorated with Margarett Perry's homage to a ritual familiar to New Yorkers in this time of this COVID-19. Each evening at 7PM New Yorkers stopped to clap, ring a bell, holler or bang a pot in a noisy tribute to the workers on the front lines. New York's dally ovation was inspired by Spaniards and Londoners who took to their windows in the same raucous manner to recognize the people working to address essential needs.
Ms. Perry (American, b. 1964) is a freelance artist and theater director based in New York City who began exploring watercolors when New York City closed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her designs exclusive to the NYHistory Store present the view outside her New York City apartment at 7 PM, when heroes were lauded daily.
