A bronze statuette of Abraham Lincoln's right hand that Leonard Wells Volk (American, 1828–1895) made in 1860. The hand grips a broomstick, a prop that Lincoln improvised upon Volk’s suggestion that he hold something cylindrical resembling a document. The Metropolitan Museum’s sculptural reproduction program, arguably the finest in the world, has used laser-scanning technology to precisely reproduce the original in bonded bronze, and the model has then been patinated by hand by an artist.

Bronze patina; 7" inches Length by 4 1/2" width
