This limited edition giclée print by artist Bryan Collier beautifully reproduces the original watercolor and collage work titled Aretha. Printed on archival paper using a high-quality inkjet printer, each print is signed by the artist, one of a limited edition of 300, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. This strong and affirming image beautifully captures the magic moment in 2009 when Aretha Franklin,  performed at Barack Obama’s first presidential inauguration. Moments before Obama was sworn in as the nation’s first black president, Aretha — Queen of Soul and singer of civil-rights anthems — gave a stunning live rendition of “My Country ’Tis of Thee.” And Aretha, in today’s parlance, freaked it! In a hat accessorized with a bow befitting Blair Waldorf, Aretha Franklin brought the (White) house down.

Bryan Collier is a beloved illustrator known for his unique style combining watercolor and detailed collage. He is a four-time Caldecott Honor recipient and a six-time Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award recipient. Collier pursued a career in children's illustration after an experience in a bookstore: the books he saw did not look or feel or sound like him or his children. He decided to change that.
