BiSexual Pride Necklace

$ 5.97 $ 11.95

Wear our hand-crafted BiSexual Pride pewter necklace sweetly and stylishly,  commemorating how half a century ago a group of oppressed, harassed and galvanized people literally and figuratively overturned the fulcrum of power by initiating the Stonewall Riots. Made by Atlantic Pewter.

Designed in 1998 by Michael Page with the aim of increasing bisexual visibility within society as a whole and the LGBT community. The pink stripe represents the possibility of same gender attraction; the royal blue stripe represents the possibility of opposite gender attraction and the stripes overlap to form a deep shade of lavender or purple, which represents the possibility of attraction anywhere along the gender spectrum.

Atlantic Pewter of Harvey Station, New Brunswick, is Dora Boudreau and Cynthia Ryder.  Dora Boudreau, the owner, realized her dream by creating a business for presenting delightful designs in jewelry.  With her designer, Cynthia Ryder, skilled in stained glass and pewter, they have built a successful women run business  that allows them to speak to the LGBTQ+ community with well-crafted charm.

Stonewall 50 at New-York Historical Society features two exhibitions, Letting Loose and Fighting Back: LGBTQ Nightlife Before and AfterBy the Force of Our Presence: Highlights from the Lesbian Herstory Archives, and a special installation, Say It Loud, Out and Proud: Fifty Years of Pride.
