The Grateful Dead Dancing Bear featured on this pendant is a classic fan favorite lovingly crafted in polished sterling silver by Cynthia Gale New York. The original Grateful Dead Collection by Cynthia Gale was created for the 2010 exhibition The Grateful Dead Now Playing at the New-York Historical Society, and we are happy to reprise it in 2020 for Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution .

A little history on the "dancing" bears:
The bears, drawn by Bob Thomas,  first appeared as part of the back cover for the album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear's Choice). The bear is a reference to Owsley "Bear" Stanley, who recorded and produced the album. Bear himself wrote, "... the bears on the album cover are not really 'dancing'. I don't know why people think they are, their positions are quite obviously those of a high-stepping march."

The New-York Historical Society presents the rock & roll world of Bill Graham (1931–1991), one of the most influential concert promoters of all time. Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution explores the life and work of the legendary music impresario who worked with the biggest names in rock music. Showcasing more than 300 objects—including rock memorabilia, photographs, and concert posters with a site-specific installation of “The Joshua Light Show,” the trailblazing liquid light show conceived in 1967 by multimedia artist Joshua White that served as a psychedelic backdrop to Graham’s concert productions in New York. On view F February 14, 2020 –January 3, 2021.
