This bandana tells the story of the Little George, a slaving ship that left the coast of West Africa in 1730. Three days out, the captives on the ship freed themselves and overpowered the crew. They sailed the ship back to the coast and escaped. The colors evoke the ocean water, the black profiles and bars reference the purpose of the endeavor while the rope and the swallows are nautical references. The swallows also traditionally represent love, faithfulness and homecoming. Here they are about finding your way back home.
