Today Twain, we can imagine, would be...oh, what’s the word? Appalled, perhaps? But hardly surprised. Mark Twain held a poisonous disdain for Congress in particular and politics in general.
The exhibition Mark Twain and the Holy Land (October 25, 2019 – February 2, 2020) commemorates the 150th anniversary of one of the best-selling travelogues of all time, The Innocents Abroad, as it illuminates Mark Twain’s fabled journey and explores his and other Americans’ perceptions of the Holy Land in the postbellum era.
