This striking poster illustrates the inspiring and heart-warming words of Albus Dumbledore; immortalised in the shape of Harry's Patronus, a stag. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry is defended by a stag Patronus he believes belongs to his late father, only to later discover — thanks to Hermione's time-turner — that it was actually his own; that Harry and his father share the same Patronus. Proof, as Dumbledore says, that James Potter will always be alive in Harry’s heart.

Illustrator Peter Strain was commissioned by Pottermore to create this bespoke  typographical art poster. As a huge fan of the series and its accompanying magical world, Peter was thrilled with the opportunity to bring to life some of its most memorable words. To those who are familiar with his work, it is no surprise that he was instinctively drawn to illustrating some of the more poignant moments; his capacity for capturing solemn beauty and subtle drama lent itself perfectly to conveying the emotional impact of some of the most-loved quotes. Peter combines his skills as a lettering specialist with his particular literary touch. The design is bold and striking, but with closer inspection there are intricate details that reward the viewer with each returning look.

Peter Strain is an AOI Award winning Illustrator working and living in Belfast. His work is inspired by film and music as well as social, political and cultural issues. He tackles these with a highly distinctive hand lettering style, bold imagery and humor.

This poster is offered on the occasion of the exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic at the New-York Historical Society. The exhibition captures the wizarding traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories through centuries-old treasures including rare books, manuscripts, and magical objects from the collections of the British Library and New-York Historical Society—with original material from Harry Potter publisher Scholastic and J.K. Rowling’s own archives.
