Reconciliation Quilt 300-Piece Puzzle

$ 7.99 $ 15.95

The design features the Reconciliation Quilt made in 1867, shortly after the Civil War, by Lucinda Ward Honstain of New York. The quilt consists of 40 unique blocks depicting scenes of hope and compassion as the country began to reunite.

Lucinda Ward Honstain (American, 1820–1904) pieced and sewed this quilt of forty blocks depicting scenes of domestic life and public events in the 1860s. The central three-panel appliqué represents her farm in Brooklyn, New York. Two other blocks celebrate what Honstain viewed as significant reconciliatory events in postbellum America: the freeing of former Confederate president Jefferson Davis and the granting of suffrage to freed slaves.
