The Hudson River has inspired dreamers since even before the Europeans arrived. Ever since Henry Hudson stumbled upon it while looking for a shortcut to the east, the Hudson River has been a magnet for many more such dreamers. It was America's first superhighway, the inspiration for the first American Art movement and the birthplace of environmental activism. Hudson Talbott celebrates this magnificent natural treasure and all the dreamers who have been affected by its power and beauty through the ages.
The Hudson River is much more than a body of water. The Hudson has been the home for humans and hundreds of species of fish, birds, and plants for centuries. Our exhibition, Hudson Rising, reflects on how human activity has impacted the river and, in turn, how the river environment has shaped art, industrial development, commerce, tourism, and environmental awareness.
