Commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and the dawn of the modern LGBTQ rights movement with our exclusive "Stonewall 50: Because History Matters" T-shirt. Our shirt was designed and manufactured by Nightsweats & T-Cells, a Cleveland, Ohio company who provides custom screen printing and design for AIDS service organizations such as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, special events and mainstream businesses. Every penny of profit from the sales of their products goes directly into the hands of persons living with HIV/AIDS in the form of a paycheck.
The process of achieving these exquisite colors requires two screens. A white screen and a second screen where the six colors are applied over a white base and mix to form each unique rainbow of colors... no two are exactly alike. New-York Historical Society's logo appears on the back of the shirt. The ultra-soft side seamed Bella Canvas unisex shirt was chosen for its classic construction and flattering shape, and it fits like a well-loved favorite. Made from 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, it features a crew neck, short sleeves, and is available in six sizes, small to 2XL.
Stonewall 50 at New-York Historical Society features two exhibitions, Letting Loose and Fighting Back: LGBTQ Nightlife Before and After, By the Force of Our Presence: Highlights from the Lesbian Herstory Archives, and a special installation, Say It Loud, Out and Proud: Fifty Years of Pride.
Nightsweats & T-cells
In 1994 Nightsweats & T-cells made a 10 day trip to NYC for a handful of events. The 25th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, NYC Pride, The Gay Games and The National Gay & Lesbian Health Conference. Their T-shirts were at all these events and in four stores in Greenwich Village and Chelsea. The New York Daily News did a major article on the merchandising of The Gay Games and featured Nightsweats & T-cells and their HIV+ employees, their mission, and their beliefs: that allowing a person living with HIV/AIDS to remain creative and productive on the days that they are physically able will allow them to live longer and healthier lives.
25 years later, against all odds, every person from Nightsweats & T-cells who worked that trip is still alive today. Their philosophy states that what they are doing is as radical today as it was when they first started employing people who had been turned away from traditional employment options.
The NYHistory Store is proud to partner with Nightsweats & T-cells, to support their mission and our own, because history matters.
