Description

Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison, known as Toni Morrison, was an American novelist. Her first novel, The Bluest Eye, was published in 1970. The critically acclaimed Song of Solomon brought her national attention and won the National Book Critics Circle Award.   She received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993. In 2010 Morrison was made an officer of the French Legion of Honour. Two years later she was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Inspired by historical events, people, quotes and memorabilia from the suffrage movement, graphic artist Meneese Wall's illustrations are paired with text that give historical context to her distinctive work. To date, Meneese has featured the likes of Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, and pro-suffrage journals like The Suffragist and The Woman Voter, bringing yesteryear's heroes into today's marketplace of ideas.
