Raise a glass to the Hudson River! Or, in this case, a brilliant mug.
Follow the waterways of New York City with our beautiful watercolor map mug of Manhattan in 1865 by Egbert Viele. The map shows all the original water courses of Manhattan Island, with the street grid superimposed on top. The map details three different kinds of lands shown: Marsh, Made Land, and Meadow. Sewer lines are indicated.
The Hudson River is much more than a body of water. The Hudson has been the home for humans and hundreds of species of fish, birds, and plants for centuries. Our exhibition, Hudson Rising, reflects on how human activity has impacted the river and, in turn, how the river environment has shaped art, industrial development, commerce, tourism, and environmental awareness. On view March 1 – August 2, 2019.
