Watercast Bowl

$ 25.00 $ 50.00

Like the dynamic riverscape experienced on the Hudson River, these are truly, one-of-a-kind sterling silver watercast bowls.  Each one has been individually cast using a technique wherein pewter is poured directly into water. The water temperature, water depth, the amount of pewter poured, temperature of the pewter, and direction of the pour, are the only controlling factors in producing the jewelry.

Many pieces have bubbles on the surface or holes where the steam from the water escaped the metal, this is a normal part of the structure.  Each piece is cleaned, filed, polished, checked for integrity (multiple times) and hand finished. Findings are nickel-free and ear-wires are hypo-allergenic.

Because each piece of water cast jewelry is unique as no moulds are used in the process, let us select one for you from our available stock.

The Hudson River is much more than a body of water. The Hudson has been the home for humans and hundreds of species of fish, birds, and plants for centuries. Our exhibition, Hudson Rising, reflects on how human activity has impacted the river and, in turn, how the river environment has shaped art, industrial development, commerce, tourism, and environmental awareness. On view March 1 – August 2, 2019
