Mesoma Hammida Onyeagba (b. Nigeria, Port Harcourt) is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and creator based in the New York/New Jersey area and the founder of Artbymesoma LLC. Her practice moves fluidly between fine art, textiles, fashion, and functional design, transforming color, pattern, and material into objects that invite connection and everyday enjoyment.
Through Artbymesoma, Onyeagba creates and sells quilted blankets, handmade jewelry, decorative rugs, socks, home décor, and art prints. Her designs are informed by an ongoing exploration of pattern, shape, color coordination, movement, fluidity, and tranquility. She is particularly interested in the ways textiles and designed objects can carry personal stories while becoming part of the spaces and lives of the people who own them.
Onyeagba earned her BFA from the University of Ottawa in 2022 and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2024. Her artwork has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and internationally, including presentations at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art, Arts14c, Ottawa Art Gallery, and TEDxUTAustin. Her work has also been featured in 1883 Magazine, New American Paintings, Business Insider, Yale Daily News, and other publications, and is held in private collections including The Bunker Artspace in West Palm Beach and the Consulate General of Finland in New York City.
