Bennur Koksuz, creates her craft through inspiration by nature, world cultures, art and architectural education. Raised in Turkey, knitting was a survival task for warming oneself and to relieve stress. She learned the technique of hand craft when she was a child and then learned theories of design during her architectural education.
Her husband has been a vital part of this journey as a sounding board and creative critic. She uses two different media, wood and yarn, to express herself. Wood comes from a local Pennsylvania company and is mostly recycled. The yarn she use is baby alpaca. She mixes her own colors from 60 different shades of natural colors ranging from whites to blacks and browns.
