The idea for Scented By Missi came about in 2019, after Melissa made a bulk candle purchase at a large big box store. After buying several candles, she realized that instead of spending money at a retailer, she could just create her own candle line with fragrances that she enjoyed. Fast forward to 2020 and Scented By Missi was launched with 5 fragrances. By 2021, the brand expanded to having a full body care line, including whipped body butters, body oils, bar soaps and shower gels. All of our products are handmade either in Long Island, or in our home office in Brooklyn.
Our purpose is to promote the importance of self-care through fragrance. As busy women who have jobs and/or run businesses, have families and other obligations, it can be difficult to carve out time where we can focus solely on ourselves. By creating products that can be incorporated into our daily routines, we show that using quality, great smelling products can aid in our wellness and self-care habits. We intentionally create our products in a way that provide fragrance, but not in an overpowering way, which makes our line perfect for those who may have fragrance sensitivities. Melissa comes from a corporate background that spans customer service, sales, and the legal profession. The creative aspect of the business has been an escape for her, and that has become her form of self-care.
