Stonington Designs founder Michelle Drake has spent over four decades cultivating a life rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and purpose. Her partner and husband Rich, a skilled woodworker and process engineer, blended their talents to build both a family and a home filled with art.
In 2022, inspired by a basket weaving class and their collection of saved exotic wood scraps, Michelle envisioned a new creative path. Together, they launched Drift by Stonington Designs, a handcrafted jewelry line that blends traditional weaving techniques with sustainable design, using reclaimed wood. With all components made in-house at their Connecticut studio, the Drakes ensure exceptional quality while staying true to their artisan roots. As the business grew, they expanded their impact through the Military Spouse Weaving Program, offering flexible work opportunities to military families and deepening the brand’s commitment to community and craftsmanship.
