Created by New York jewelry designer Cynthia Gale for the New-York Historical Society, the earrings are part of the Museum's jewelry collection titled The City that Never Sleeps. Inspired by the remarkable photography of Irving Browning, this jewelry celebrates Browning's soulful documentation of New York City.
These landmark earrings are rendered in a high-polished sterling silver. Length is 1.2" with sterling silver ear wires and backs.
A self taught photographer and cinematographer, Irving Browning (1895-1961) is celebrated today as a master documentarian of the heart of New York City. The New-York Historical Society's Browning collection consists of 1,885 gelatin silver photographic prints, as well as ephemera relating to Browning's career as a photographer and cinematographer. Images date from 1918 to 1952.
