Commemorate and celebrate Pride with our "Pride on Christopher Street" Candle. Inspired by the 1969 Stonewall Inn uprising in Greenwich Village. New York City’s first ever Pride March was held on Sunday, June 28, 1970 known at the time as the Christopher Street Liberation Day March, the route began on Washington Place between Sheridan Square and Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, moved north up Sixth Avenue, and ended with a “Gay-In” in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow. The event in New York City's queer history has served as a touchstone for various social movements, as well as the catalyst for Pride parades around the world, and one of America's smallest and newest National Parks. Now that is certainly something to sniff at!
