Standing for more than a century as a cultural and architectural icon, The New York Historical's Beaux-Arts building has been the institution's home since 1908. Originally designed by architects York & Sawyer, it was expanded in the 1930s, designated a New York City Landmark in 1966, and extensively renovated in 2011. The Tang Wing for American Democracy opened in 2026. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern and dedicated to the nation’s founding principles, the 71,000 square foot addition completes the institution’s majestic architectural campus.
