Ulysses is the 1922 Modernist novel by the famous Irish writer, author, and poet, James Joyce. Ulysses is the Latinized version of the name Odysseus, and the story follows as much. The story concerns Leopold Bloom and his unusual encounters on a day in June, 1904 in London. Ulysses is approximately 265,000 words in length and full of early obscenity, puns, parodies, and allusions. The novel has received praise and criticism alike, but assuredly going down as one of the great classical English works.
