Women’s Peace Collection is a verified fair trade company featuring exquisite handmade crafts from across the globe. Featured here is our sterling silver and brass jewelry collection from Bali. Bali silversmiths are renowned for a traditional and unique filigree style (intricate silver scroll work); these artisans pride themselves on honoring their culture while incorporating an innovative and modern touch with each piece they create. They are highly skilled artisans whose traditions have been passed down from generation to generation. Many of our designs are nature-inspired, featuring botanical elements.
The artisan cooperative that Women’s Peace Collection works with in Bali is a small, family-run workshop where the artisans are paid excellent wages and work together as a team, and each individual is involved in decision-making processes. Housing is also provided for those who need it, and the women have the option of working from home while caring for their children.
The jewelry is co-designed by the artisans in Bali and our company owner, Sue Fish, in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Design ideas are shared back and forth between Sue and the artisans until a final product is approved by everyone involved. This collaboration creates a meaningful cooperative work experience for everyone. Sue visits Bali whenever possible to strengthen her relationship with her partners there.
Our Bali jewelry is very high quality, and sustainably sourced materials are used in keeping with fair trade principles. Our silver is .925 sterling and many designs include gemstones, abalone shell or pearls. Artisans use recycled materials whenever possible and work in environmentally safe conditions. Importantly, each artisan has dignified work – a human right for all!
